Lindsey Stapel
Lindsey has been an invaluable part of the Futura Language Professionals staff since 2005. She brings a unique perspective to curriculum development as she herself served as a Futura Language Professionals instructor. Since that time Lindsey has managed, trained, and developed hundreds of Futura Spanish teachers as the Director for all of Futura Language Professionals. Lindsey has the opportunity every year to visit over one hundred Futura classes to see our curriculum in action. She is consistently working to make changes and improvements to our curriculum as well as to our instructor training processes. Lindsey has a very creative spirit that is very welcome in the area of foreign language curriculum development, where our goal is to create educationally engaging and dynamic courses. Lindsey has been integral in developing our revolutionary theme-based series of courses, the Vamos Series for Elementary Spanish students, writing seven of the ten courses. Lindsey brings to Futura not only her extensive knowledge of our organization and instructional methodology, but also a fluency in the Spanish language obtained through dual degrees in Spanish and Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies as well as extensive travels throughout Mexico and Guatemala.
Joy Klotz
Joy Klotz designed and wrote Futura’s Elementary Spanish Levels Program, which has been a foundation to the Futura curriculum since 2002. Joy’s extensive teaching experience, as well as many years in professional curriculum development made her a true asset during the development process of this curriculum series. Joy obtained her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Contemporary Issues in Education from Carroll College in Waukesha, Wisconsin along with a post graduate teaching certificate from Capella University. Since that time, Joy has completed a Phd program in Education. In addition to classroom teaching and professional curriculum development, she has served in various educational roles such as: Department Chair, Target Area Goal Chair for the North Central Accreditation Process, and Presenter for full-day teacher in-service programs. She has been named in Who’s Who among America’s Teachers. Additionally Joy has taught at Martin Luther High School in Wisconsin, as well as Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served as an Online Spanish Instructor for Lutheran Initiative for Virtual and Existing Schools (LIVES). Joy also joined Futura Language Professional’s Annual Franchisee Meeting in 2008 as a guest speaker with an expertise in classroom management techniques.
Laurel Klein
Laurel has worked with Futura Language Professionals as a curriculum and language expert consultant since 2004. She was a pioneer in co-developing our revolutionary theme-based curriculum series –Vamos. Furthermore, with her expertise in teaching and curriculum writing for middle school aged students, Laurel wrote our extensive middle school Spanish curriculum Amistades Futuras, which continues to be one of the only middle school specific Spanish texts in the country. Laurel is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin as well as a K-8 teaching certification and a Masters of Education in K-8 Curriculum and Instruction from Arizona State University. Laurel was a Regional Nominee for the Teach for America National Award, Excellence in Education in 2002 and received the Heather Elizabeth Lutton Award for Excellence in Spanish in 2000. In addition to her education in the United States, Laurel has lived and traveled extensively in Mexico, Ecuador, Spain, Brazil, Cuba and Japan. Her education, coupled with her teaching experience, make Laurel a wonderful addition to the Futura Language Professional’s team.
