At Futura Language Professionals, we pride ourselves in striving to continously evolve in order to meet the needs of our ever-changing communities. The After School Alliance has provided startling facts regarding children and their after school activities, which have prompted us to join the campaign to keep kids involved after school:
- Only 8.4 million K-12 children (15 percent) participate in afterschool programs. An additional 18.5 million would participate if a quality program were available in their community. (Afterschool Alliance, 2009)
- The hours between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. are the peak hours for juvenile crime and experimentation with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and sex. (Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, 2002)
- More than 15 million school-age children (26 percent) are on their own after school. Among them are more than 1 million in grades K to 5. (Afterschool Alliance, 2009)
How Have We Responded?
We partner with school and district officials to use grant funds to provide long-term, academically enriching Spanish programs at schools throughout the country. We are grateful for Title I, ARRA, 21st Century and local county educational grants that make these remarkable partnerships possible. Classes available for:
- Elementary School Children
- Preschool Children
- Middle School Youth
How To Establish a Program At Your School:
Establishing a program is easy! We work with you to choose the day, time, dates, and scope of the Spanish program. We offer several curriculum options. Therefore, you are able to implement the series which best suits your school's needs. We offer traditional conversational Spanish programs or ever-changing theme-based courses. We can work with students who have no previous exposure to the Spanish language or we can enhance current language skills and cultural explorations for those with some or extensive Spanish backgrounds. All Futura courses meet or exceed the National Standards for Foreign Language while incorporating fun-based and dynamic methods.
Our programs can be entirely grant or school funded or may be subsidized by parents. After determing the scope of your program, we can provide you with a formal, written quotation and proposal. Depending on your particular needs, we can charge per child or by the hour. Our monthly invoicing process makes paying for your Spanish program simple. We are certain that we can provide an effective and affordable program for your school and begin making a difference at a time that matters--after school!
The Promising Afterschool Programs Study found that regular participation in high-quality afterschool programs is linked to significant gains in standardized test scores and work habits as well as reductions in behavior problems among disadvantaged students. (University of California at Irvine, 2007)
